Since its founding in 1987, The Amistad Center for Art & Culture remains the premier arts and cultural center in the Connecticut region that highlights the contributions of people of the African diaspora.

We invite you to celebrate Juneteenth with music from across the diaspora,  soulful cuisine, and dancing the night away with both old and new friends.

Music by a New Orleans style brass band, and DJs Ronn and Dana

Contribution in the Arts : Andre Rochester

Andre Rochester is a Fine Artist, Curator and Arts advocate who uses his art as a tool for healing and connections with community.  Rochester also coaches emerging artists, encouraging them to develop their craft with a focus on professionalism and business acumen.

Outstanding Community Service: Greater Hartford Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a historically African American sorority dedicated to public service with an emphasis on programs that assist the African American community. Since 1947, the Greater Hartford Alumnae Chapter has been a driving force in the region providing services and programs that enlighten, engage and educate on issues that have a direct impact on  the culture, politics, education and health of Connecticut communities.
